Thanks everybody.ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, as those who fought in WW1 from 1914 to 1918, but the date 25/4 refers to the day of the failed Gallipoli campaign of 1915 and hence is the equivalent of your Armistice day as HCF has stated .It's now a day to commemorate those who fought in all wars not just WW1. It is also a point in history where the Australians and New Zealanders realised that in these situations that we could not fight just under British command but under our own. Quite an important day , not just a public holiday.
