Give us a quote then!

I will dig them out but I recall my lack of effort constantly frustrating teachers, refused to revise etc but still got all my grades

I recall I a got a A in English literature without even opening the books we had to read ............ Why would I when I could get the video and watch it in 2hrs !

A Kenyan elephant farming expert could tell everyone around the world to farm elephants, but it doesn't actually add anything to the debate.

Yeah but look at his from his point of view. He gets a load of people beating a path to his door sometimes wanting "answers" where there aren't any. But there are plenty of principles that can be taken on board. I don't choose to grow any warm season crops (I could technically grow maize) but I definitely struggle with warm season broadleaves (unless they were in the cover crop after osr). Because of our humidity and longer growing season we have much less of a warm season/cool season dynamic, I'm trying to think of any UK plants we'd consider natural warm season crops in the wild ?

Maybe my brother ought to be the one at home no tilling. One of his school reports was "if he was any more laid back, he would be recumbent"

When being interviewed for a school place though he was asked if he would follow in his farthers profession, to which he replied "No, he's always working and never has any money."

For my GCSE chemistry practical I didn't even bother doing the actual practical which was supposed to be done every day after school for a week but I had cattle to feed so I made up the results with some anomalies and discussed reasons for the irregularities. Result, 97% and highest in year! Done it in 1 hr in class!!

But...

The point of the exam is to pass/get good grades. The point of the education (and the book in the first place) was not just to get you to pass the exam but to develop you as a youngster. So there is a flipside if you get my drift.

Our resident philosopher @Feldspar will hopefully come up with a disquisition on this. :)

My dissertation at Harper was done entirely after pub closing time the night before it was handed in with aid of a packet of pro-plus ! Got a distinction

Also found the library contained an endless source of the same coursework assignments done by previous year

Work smarter not harder !

You obviously didn't study engineering then! ;)

I have to admit my dissertation was real hard work especially with engineering measurement equipment breaking all the time! I put more time than the standard 300 hrs into it for sure, probably double!

All I needed to do was pass the exam - I did this by choosing the most efficient route

All I need to do today is grow crops at lowest £/t posible ............

Well, I don't think it has much to do with being lazy and brilliant at the same time. I know some of you guys are highly intelligent but I tried pretty hard at school and still only scraped a hand full of poor O levels so packed it up and went to work at 16.

Actually I think it has more to do with wanting to find new ways of doing things and then being brave enough to take the risks. I spent most of my life taking risks and putting my self in serious danger. Look at my avatar. I have kicked that horse off a full stride away from the jump, just to gain an edge over the competition, what the heck, you either win or end up arse over T and get trampled all over. It's no difference to what we have all done with no-till over most of the last decade, we have tried a lot of mad things, some have worked and others have made us look stupid, but the gains have always been worth the losses.

I have actually backed off a bit in the last year or so and stuck to what I have learnt works, still a few new thing going on, but not so risky.
