Too fat to farm?

Carnivore diet? It's gonna be hard on your kidneys and it's gonna be hard on your GI tract, not to mention the risk of gout.

I don't think any extreme fad diet is generally recommended. Restricting calorie intake periodically (intermittent fasting) seems to be useful for people who are pre-diabetic but I haven't read much about it in years.

I fear you are rather getting your wires crossed here. The post I made was made in response to someone else who seemed to think a person with a stoma had ended up with it due to their diet or some other nonsense they had determined from watching a fudging youtube video. I know for a fact that you cannot blame such things on diet. I was however, more addressing the fact that he thought because the guy's stoma contained liquid it meant something. I pointed out that the site of the stoma will determine what sort of material collects in it because the regions of the gut have differing roles. As you will later see no attempt was made to reply to these points because the poster in question has zero knowledge of relevance to this subject.

I would happily post in great detail about the nature of the GI tract and various pathologies but it is not particularly relevant or helpful in this thread.

I cannot say I have come across any casual prejudices toward stomas. Prejudices toward people with lung cancer (i.e. in the belief it is all self-inflicted) I definitely have encountered, though.
The point as ever is you didn’t watch the video but still felt the need to comment. If you’d watched it you’d have heard what the guy had to say.

Humans Are by Nature lazy we invent things to make life easier pretty much all of society not just kids are fatter then ever , just look how many pensioners are carrying 2 or 3 stone extra these days.
Farmers should in theory be slimmer than the population at large but i don't see much evidence of that and the staff of the health service should know better as to the perils of excess weight and they may be some of the worse offenders !

There are some myths about excess weight that mystify me though

such as obesity is caused by deprivation and poverty stopping people eating well NO an apple , banana or orange is cheaper than a Twix any takeaway is more expensive than a can of soup. I also see just as many obese and overweight people in the local affluent areas as the poor ones.

its caused by ultra processed food MacDonalds, Greggs etc .No Its caused by eating too much and doing too little plain and simple If a food is high in calories you don't need as much but a calorie is calorie , its just measurement of energy.

A diet is myth , by virtue if you set a target and actually got to the target weight "the diet is complete" , you go back to your previous ways and back comes the weight you have to change your lifestyle.

If your average person put 1/2 the time they spend trawling social media into exercise they would be mentally and physically better off but instead they say , I don't have the time to look after themselves and blame others for there weight issues .

The facts are if every one around you is fat , fat is seen as normal and why would you look to be different if your mates are fat , brother is fat and you are why would you think I must eat less being over weight is now normal that is going to take some changing .

We drink way to much , wine , beer, red bull , pop etc wine and beer consumption at home is massive just look at how many crates of he stuff are bought at your local supermarket let alone our convenience store that must shift a pallet every 2 days of carling

I would agree that food in general , from something as simple as baked beans to microwave meal could be better I see no reason to add sugar to bread , or soup its done because humans like it so by adding it your product sells better but if the law changed and producers where told to cut it back it would do no harm , but it wont make people slim.
It need change in mindset , people need to stop blaming everything but the overconsumption for the wight issues they have and eat less and do more.
How you get to that position though I don't know but excess weight is ticking time bomb for our health service to deal with let alone a society who physically cant work
large amounts of exercise are a very inefficient way to loose weight and keep it off long term, exercise stimulates hunger hormones

the kep is to fill yourself up with foods high in protein and fibre, fibre slows down absorption of nutrients unlike processed foods which are so unnaturally high in nutrients with unnaturally low amounts of fibre, its too easy to overload on calories before your body has time to tell you it has enough so you overeat

UPFs aren’t high in nutrients. Quite the opposite.

I could not argue about the workings of the digestive system I have no idea about that But eating to much is eating to much whatever the reason for it . But in terms or exercise who said LOTS ? was needed most people don't do any !!! To even call it exercise sounds like it is something you need to go out of your way to do after the rest of your work is done " some effort" would be good starting point for most people , like walk across a car park rather than park at the door taking stairs rather than a lift in farming terms perhaps parking the quad at the gate and walking around 1 field a day

the eskimos are wrapped up more than most, most are severely deficient

There isn't enough intensity of sunlight in the northern latitudes in winter to do anything really. I read somewhere you would have to be in less than shorts and T shirt for hours on end to get meaningful sunlight exposure during winter hence anyone in North Europe, including the UK won't get enough sunlight and is likely vitamin D deficient.

Eating too much ice cream vs too much greek yoghurt could have a much worse effect, or too much pizza vs too much lean chicken, yes a certain amount of exercise is needed for good overall health but none required to be in a calorie deficit

lack of sunlight exposure leading to vit d deficiency
Outside as most of the folks on here, but doc said i was deficient in vit D and that was a surprise. I dont know if theres a connection, but i tan extremely well

I know my disposition and now only eat two meals a day ,Breakfast and Tea (dinner to some) but keep snacking when i get in at night
When younger i skipped breakfast and had Dinner 12 oclock mid day, men nocked off then so like wise, meat and 2 veg AND allways a pudding ( the best part) and a lightish tea, and then out to now wife or YFC , always active on the go
So in latter life realised i could eat more than used in calories in a day if i wasnt strict, the best and easiest way for me is to miss mid day meal, general run about 12 1/2 stone and feel sluggish at anything over 13st
Intrestingly when away from work for some time i got to 15st and we got a wedding invite, i needed to wear my wedding suit and lost 3st pretty sharp BUT i felt good as the weight came off, not the fact off, but the feeling IN MY body as i starved it

I don't know if that is correct or not but it would be due to genetics.

Darker skin tones are more resistant to UV light and sun burn along with a much reduced risk of skin cancer in general. If you live in Northern latitudes, your average sun exposure is far less.

That is one of the theories about how white skin evolved in the first place - at more northerly latitudes, dark skinned people can't survive well because they can't make enough vit D.
