They were operating,up here a few years back. Was French guys. The would offer to sharpen drill bits and cutters, With Some Fancy Machine. They were charging a ,if I remember correctly, a pound a millimetre. Scam was they were charging for the length of the drill bits. For a drill 100mm long they wanted £100. If they were getting a good few drills from someone, that could soon run up into thousands.

Could trading standards get them on their method of measurement being misleading or at least not clear?

When I worked in France we had a bloke came round in a camper van and sharpened all the knives in the company canteen. I arrived at work one morning to see the chef carrying boxes of knives out to this camper van. It must have been a genuine service at that time but has sadly been hijacked by fraudsters. Judging by the state of the camper van, he wasn't making a fortune at it.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
