We need to educate the public and get them on our side not pee them off .
Good luck with that! Don't you realise kids are taught in school that farmers are ruining the world!
I really think the public must think UK farmers are content with what we have,I think it's a missed opportunity to let the public know how we are being treated at the moment, zero political support, zero nfu support, unsafe imports(according to our regulations),the list is endless

with europe and wales 'a fire' with farmer protests?......why arn't we english farmers getting 'busy'?

i could try a poll but i suspect the reasons might be to varied?

for me....i've just got to much going on....feel it would be better concentrating on 'playing the proposed system' rather than fighting to change it

from what I see of your current SFI offering it’s a bloody good deal

We're lambing soon so will watch from the sidelines.

Wales is 90% farmland. About 50% of farms are tenanted.
If the Labour Party in the Welsh Assembly don't listen to their farmers then imagine what Starmer will try to roll out across Englandshire. Wales deserves England's support before it's too late. Plenty on here are there in spirit.

I say this as one married to a welsh lass and share a house with her elderly mum too.

More important to counter the misinformation and anti-farming propaganda and plain lies.
That won't be achieved by inconveniencing the general public, that will just annoy them and lose us the argument.
If we had half the media savvyness that the vegans and badgerphiles are possessed of, we'd be sorted.
People are pretty fair minded when the facts are explained.

I’m actually fairly satisfied with SFI as far as it goes though it’s early days. I’ve come round to the idea that maybe best just make the most of it while it lasts.
I can see the food security issue but really that’s above my pay grade and I can’t see a huge productivity drive and flooded markets doing anybody any favours.
Maybe England actually has it about right, though you’ll never satisfy everybody.

At least the protests get to put farmers Infront of politicians and the media.

Whether the farmers choosen understand the situation i.e. GFC and are able to communicate that is another matter.

Pick one supermarket that is playing fast and loose with labelling and trading practices misrepresenting what it is offering. Hammer social media with the facts and suggest to the public that they shop at another supermarket.
Market share is the root of all evil, potential loss of market share is the tool to rail in the bully boy tactics of the members of the cartel.
Get the message out to the public via social media that the target supermarket is treating them like they were mugs and that they should shop elsewhere.
Every little helps might be a start.

Right in every way, but... I can tell you with certain knowledge that Trading Standards have been informed, at least three times, of a huge supermarket chain, let's call it 'Pestco' for now, being entirely disingenuous regarding sourcing and dishonest regarding labeling and being given irrefutable photographic and actual hard evidence proving it, and then doing... SFA.

The next approach will be made and this time recorded and then TS will be informed that it was recorded, appropriate arrangements are in progress. It will be interesting to see if the threat of being publicly exposed for not doing their job will be more of an influence upon TS than the 'weight' of the supermarket in question. For myself, I suspect that the supermarket is likely to win out on that. And that will be the trigger for an action against TS.

And that's a pity because, in many ways, Trading Standards has been an outstanding public body over the years and has done a hell of a lot of good. But things seem to have changed now in some ways...

this ^. although it doesn’t suit some it’s a lot better than what the Welsh or european farmers are facing

Red tractor is my only gripe but protesting won’t change them - we are doing a decent job of taking them apart simply by exposing truth and killing their support

weather is the other issue for many …….. but no point protesting about that !

If I was going to protest about anything it would be about
a) Stupid EA nutrient management rules and persecution of farmers while letting the waters companies get away with it.
b) RT and the retail mafia insisting on higher standards than imports while allowing those imports in and not paying us a recognisable premium over this lower standard import.

Those are the things that annoy me. SFI not so much. I agree SFI won’t help home production but that’s not my direct concern, it’s not a show stopper like EA and RT invoked costs.

I’d always say directly to Conservative Party that if you want us to grow crops like OSR without insecticides used abroad then shouldn’t you be putting your money where your mouth is and either subsidise U.K. production to help up over the disadvantage you created for us or ban imports to lift the U.K. price. You seem to want it both ways which is hypocritical.
