Tractor brochures and leaflets.

Why is it that on the final pages of these brochures featuring the company back up and servicing schedules the main dealer’s mechanic is always photographed in clean overalls carefully removing the air filter?

The owner is always there, looking on with a smile, as his new tractor is inspected and serviced by the dealer’s ‘technician’.
Never is the tractor covered in slurry, nor the mechanic depicted as lying beneath the machine, covered in dust, muck and oil and scrabbling around for the right spanner and extension pipe to slacken off a drain plug that is covered in congealed gunk, and has been hammered in to 5,000Nm torque at the factory with a chatterbox air gun socket.

Just me being cynical in my old age.

This has made me laugh!! Of all the 50hr services I did it was a very small percentage that was done on a clean tractor!! Sometimes you could be lucky and it could be done on a week old tractor during a dry silage season but you still had oil run down your arm from one of the flipping transmission or hydraulic filter changes!!!

Balders, I can only prostrate myself at your feet, in submissive acknowledgement of your overwhelming expertise in these matters.
Indeed it might be said that you are indeed the consummate Conner Sewer of all matters relating to sexuality and it’s myriad and many varied array of perversions.

However, like many others on this forum, I suppose I must wish you well in your (warped) pursuit of happiness and physical gratification; and can only hope, again like many others, that you continue to be securely confined under 24 hour surveillance in your top security institution.

Keep taking the tablets and chewing the straps.

We see what we want stop see. The marketing and sales patter is for your subconscious sometimes. Would we really contemplate buying a new machine without knowing about the spares and backup for it? Generally as farmers we tend to be more scrutinising than some so the marketing will account for that. Eg.The average consumer will buy a vacuum on its looks (and maybe ability via mums net), not whether you can get spares. The brochure conveys the image that you may wish to work for that company too. After all they need to recruit staff aswell. There is a lot of marketing done by creating an image. I wouldn’t notice, but even the clothes worn by the company employees changes in design and detail fairly frequently. My daughter works for one of the main brands which is interesting seeing how the job works from the “other side”.

There is a true gent of a technician that works for RW Crawford. Those that know will know. His overalls are always immaculate and ironed to perfection . His boots always have a shine. His work is second to none and is probably the best challenger technician in the country. He must have spare overalls in his van ready to go for next job. A true professional of our industry .
