With fuel prices increasing and less farm support forecast in the future i feel tractor manufacturers should be given a benchmark for testing fuel economy such as at set pto or RMP and it should be tested independantly!! most people look at the MPG figures when buying a car that might only cost £1000 on fuel per year it should be much more important when buying a tractor!

The problem with that is arriving at a standard method of testing. Tractors are subject to such a variety of loads & operating conditions, compared to cars which are commonly divided between " urban " & " highway " cycles, for example

My T8040 for example can vary from 15 l / hr to over 60 l / hr fuel use, depending on the type of work it's doing

Mabye a figure for pto work and another for towing? John deere winning so far which is a surprise

Given the money these tractor manufacturers are charging now surely some sort of independant benchmark tests must be essential i run tractors to 10k hrs even a 5l/hr difference over that period equates to £25,000 difference in fuel costs!!!!

The Nabraska tractor tests should do the job, it's a very thorough test and the reports are available at the above site. I thought that all manufacturers provided fuel consumption figures.
DLG will have something but I doubt that it's as complete as Nebraska

Cheers, hell of an information here will have a good read when i get time has anyone tried any on farm comparisons?

:hilarious: Evidence ha this is tff don’t need evidence
Ive never compared a fendt nor driven one but was under the impression that was more of a sales pitch, youve got to sell a 120k tractor somehow? Not sure if it has occured to fendt owners they could get a substantially cheaper german built tractor with the same engine in the form of deutz? Or perhaps they are unreliable?
