So you can bill 13 hours max a day ( to allow an 11 hour break) take £15 an Hour for driver,£10 per hour for fuel…. Doesnt leave a lot

Even a truck driver can do 3 15 hr shifts a week and 3 13s (not every week I obviously and that is duty not driving) I have never heard of any restrictions on agricultural work at all.

But if the rest of the market is working under cost why join them??I don’t get this thread? You are saying you want to work at local market value. Yet how do you bench mark the local market value? If it’s like round here. You will be subsiding others!!!
I think the purpose of this thread is to stir the pot and start an argument
Like @Clive said he's upto date on drilling and there not much going on now

Clive knows this , more clicks = more exposure = more doh ray me , think they call it trending
Yeah got a bit quiet on here . busiest one was Harvest 2023 ? now it’s nearly finished, so something else had to the starter up .
But if you already got a tractor and trailer doing the job, you must’ve sorted a rate out, before you start it.

Nah there’s heaps of threads on here saying they’ve done xyz or hired out something then ask what they should charge.
Wrong way round of course but it seems to be how some do business.
In this case definitely done for forum traffic, especially if he’s already doing the work.

sadly it doesn’t work that way - if only it did i would be considerably richer ! this isn’t youtube, click bait pointless here as TFF ads are sold directly ( much higher value !) and we have far more available than we ever sell

@Clive are you going to say what you are charging once everyone has told you their rates?

don’t know yet - not done a bill yet, only did 1 day so far, maybe others if we are needed, i’m in no rush and will obviously speak to the neighbour about it before billing with knowledge of what others are charging ( hence why i started the thread / asked the question)

in reality i probably would not even bother to bill if it was just a one off day helping out. ……… ( that’s how you do clickbait btw 🤣)

no - I will charge whatever the commercial going rate is - I don't do this for sh1!s and giggles its a business, I don't want to overcharge but equally I don't want to subsidise other people business. If I was to charge less than the "going rate" I would also damage other contracting business in the area whom maybe don't have tractors and labour with cost already amortised over existing workload
bit of a contradiction to that post

not really as the commercial rate will be way above my costs for a already very well amortised salaried man and depreciated tractor - only direct cost of additional work is fuel and R&M / hr

if it’s not contractors are loosing a fortune

Interesting thread…. Amazed at the variety of prices being thrown about…

I’m going to enquire what our local spud grower is offering for tractor hire tomorrow .. 😃
