Keep your hands off the chequebook and pay some tax.

Patience young grasshopper. They're not desperate enough yet......who knows, at the rate the economy is slowing down, they'll be running "buy one get one free" deals on new tractors shortly.

You really want to have your cake and to eat it don't you boss?
Need to lose some cash for tax, but want purchases as cheap as pos.
Tbh do you blame him? Prices have been pushed ridiculously hard against us by manufacturers, steel and energy increases were used as excuses for price rises and they are now back down, don’t think it’s out of the way to expect prices to come back.

From his posts he works hard for his business so I don’t blame anyone for wanting to get the best value for what they are spending, don’t think he needed to mention it’s for tax purposes he’s spending but hey ho if he can justify that to himself then I don’t see what’s wrong with wanting best value for what he’s spending.

Something is going to have to give.

Will it? The OP has clearly indicated his desire to spend money to save tax(may not be the sole reason of course), hardly a sign of desperation. While people are spending to save tax I’m not sure machinery prices will come down. Doesn’t help those who don’t need to ‘save’ tax though.

If thats true why is it used as an excuse when theyr putting prices up
I think in many cases it was a good excuse for a lot of machinery to go up in price during COVID and the following Ukraine invasion when steel prices went sky high and nobody questioned it at the time as it seemed plausible. Trouble is prices haven't come back for a lot of things. I do think machinery prices had been held back possibly a bit by competition and maybe a lot of companies knew this and took the opportunity to increase prices when they could get away with it but not to the level they are now.

I can't see any prices dropping, the only hope is a dealer that's got stock that was bought in before the last price increase. Friend bought a specced up ,in stock Massey from a dealer he hates for £8000 less than his usual one could get one to order with no extras. Usual bloke fully supports the move and is happy to look after it. Some wouldn't,mind.

I understand the dealer he hates has stock that quite possibly wants shifting. If ordering from new I think the trade have accepted the fact they are going to sell less but possibly want double the margin on what they do sell.
