How do the deleted add blue tractors get on. If most of the modern problems are caused by add blue does deleting solve the problem. I’d be curious to know as I’m pretty wary about tampering with new engines
add blue as i understand it simply a check box in the ecu so if you in a round about way uncheck it so the ecu no longer initiates dosing etc and can no longer see faults then its fine, add blue is on the exhaust emission side so has no impact on the engine.

same with dpf all on exhaust side so easy to get rid, just map it out, only raises faults by pressure sensors, fix then reading or delete it properly and off goes your dpf no engine issues, othert than prob increased turbo spool time and less lag, not really an issue on a tractor!

Recon now tractors are getting on for £1000 per horsepower the unreliability of a lot of tractors needs to be seriously addressed . Farmers spending £250 k + plus for prime tractors that is an obseen amount of money to spend on a tractor and then they still breakdown i know extended warranties are available for a price but come on for that sort of money you would expect more reliable products . If tractor manufactures made aeroplanes no one would fly . Now that is a thought and would help sort global warming .Fly in a john deere plane or a fendt or even a zetor plane ? No thanks i wouldn't trust any of them ill stay put thanks .
They would be the safest planes ever built, they would never get off the ground.

As an industry, the ag industry must have the most ”self proclaimed experts” and “have a go hero’s” out there.
There are countless threads on here about what oil shall I put in here, that oil is too dear, I have a fault, how can I map it out without fixing it, and some horrendous bodged repairs and so on……
A lot of trouble out there is man made !!

We have a JCB new in December last year, not even 500hrs, and just back from major work on the brakes, a fault that will arise in all the new ones,
Under we had a loan if a demo machine , and it tell take warning lights and beeping was occurring before it went back not even 90 hrs on it

If you look after the system, it pretty much runs in the background without issue. The emissions are treated down stream in the exhaust system, away from the engine.

I always say the laziest engineer is the tractor engineer.

No question there is a market gsp for reliable kit in many forms.

New ford rangers were still blowing engines and gearboxes, been in operation for 100 years.

I agree the reliability is woeful, and its often not money. Money is part of the challenge in engineering just like hp etc.

There are high hour stories around of courses, but how many breakdowns and glitches occured in those hours??

It would be something if there was some thought out in to making repairs easier. Valtra fitter was saying that our old n series could be split and and clutches out in three hours, new ones it would be three days. Part could be £20 and labour £2000
Clutch in new tractor with ecm modulation should last life of machine imo.

Theres friction discs in the market that will do 25 to 30,000 hours.

Never had a problem ourselves but anything can fail with abuse. My point was that the manufacturers don't improve tractor's ease of maintenance or repair. Not just valtra, all makes have stupid little things that need a dealer to sort with a laptop. Why not more external items like pumps, solenoids, actuators etc instead of needing two days if strip down to get to them

If you are in Dorset, get down to Poole Quay, buy a bag of chips, look over the water and console yourself in the knowledge that its cost does not correlate with reliability. trust me.

Seems like an arms race in technology, these days, I would take reliability over tech any day. A comfortable cab, auto cappuccino maker with 5 HD screens won't do more work in a day than a Ford 5610 if it's in a dealer's workshop.

Prior to the tech in modern tractors, farm machinery mechanics had very little to do. In fact, I remember going into machiner dealer workshops in the 1980's and 1990's and seeing all the mechanics sat around playing cards because they had nothing else to do.

I don’t want basic I want everything touch button operated, button to change direction, button to make the linkage go up/down, button to operate the spools, button to make tractor go at the chosen speed, and a button that steers it for me.

And yes if I was a bit younger and smarter and could figure a few more of the gadgets out I could probably find a way that does all of the above in a single press of yep you guessed it, a button😂😂

Can't help noticing tractor dealers of most makes have suddenly got far more new tractors & machinery sitting on their forecourts, think new machinery sales may be feeling the effects of subsidy changes.
