Tractor sales

Interesting update.

https://www.agriland.ie/farming-new...w-tractors-in-the-uk-come-from-just-3-giants/

Interesting to note:

Kubota sold 24% the figure of John Deere and 6.9% overall.
Translating into almost twice the figure of Claas tractors sold and over three times the number of Deutz.

By comparison JCB sold just 8% the figure of John Deere and 2.4% overall.

Note the rider at the bottom, that the figures include tractors both under and over 50hp.

This rather distorts the figures as cannot compare like with like as a large proportion of the 948 sold by Kubota would be amenity type tractors under 50hp where they are probably market leaders.

Not very good for jcbs standings in the table.

What about JD they sell quite a few small tractors as well going by adds by local JD dealer!

Raises the question as to whether JD are the actual best selling agricultural tractor?

There seem to be no shortage of their small tractors on golf courses, parks & sports grounds and hedge fund managers palatial pads!

Valtra shipped roughly 50% more tractors in 2017 than 2016 (434 units).

However to put that into perspective they shipped more tractors in back in 2011 (627 units) than in 2017 (617 units).

Just saying ;)

I'm not following what you are getting at here ? From 2016 to end of sales figures 2017:valtra Increased sales with the realease of smart touch tractors..

My point was I expect the 2018 figures to be higher than the 17 figures. What does the 2011 figures have to do with it.. taking data from 2011 and comparing it to data 6 years down the line makes no sense at all

I remember chatting to a very well known salesman here in east Anglia and he informed me that some Deere dealers even included wheelbarrow sales in their tractor figures.
New Holland CASE had just introduced new machines in 2016/17 which are normally more expensive than late models from their previous ranges in 2015 which would explain their drop off, and they don't sell branded wheelbarrows:LOL:

OK there's two points to take away here:

1. The overall market rose quite substantially from '16 to '17 and so did Valtra's market share, so they took home a bigger slice of a bigger pie.
2. The size of the market in '18 (for tractors > 50 hp) was pretty much line-ball with '17

So for Valtra to have "better figures" in 2018 they would solely have to do it from increasing market share. All AGCO brands had a better market share in '17 than '16. The best was 'poor old' Massey which had a massive jump.

The 2011 figures are historically interesting, because the overall market was much bigger (about 40% bigger) than in 2016, Valtra's market share was actually much bigger then too. It's only recently recovered to those level in 2017.
