looking advice on tractors and adaptions was wondering does anyone have any experience of modfying tractors for wheelchair users and what would be the most suitable tractor to buy that's not going to cost a fortune as I'm thinking of buying myself a tractor but won't be able to use pedals with my feet any advice would be very helpful

I know one guy that converted a Fergy 7480 and done it himself I understand as I believe that's what he does for a living but also enjoys agricultural work and I read somewhere about a converted Valtra. Vario's I guess will always make easier converts .

Thanks for the help I'm thinking of using a platform lift for getting in as I'm fit to walk but will need the clutch and brakes sorted so I will be fit to use them and I'm looking to spend no more than 20000-25000 on a tractor

Look for grant funding to help purchase and adapt the tractor as you may well be able to claim a good part of the purchase price and the adaption.

Google a firm called " Adaptacar" and give them a call as I understand they are very helpful

Hi Fergal, good to have you on the forum
When you say a platform lift, what were you thinking?
This lad seems to be using a electric motor to run a hydraulic pump (easily available) to work the lift? I think the black handle to the right of the steering wheel must be brakes? Working a simple linkage to the pedals.
Most clutches are now soft or even fully electrical, so that will help.

The major issue I see is you get in and drive off leaving your chair behind! what happens if you need to get out of the tractor for what ever reason, (break down, implement issues or adjustment etc etc) or when you come back some arse has moved your chair as they thought it was in the way! or run over it!

Something like a fastrac would have the scope to lift you in the cab then place your chair on the back load bay so you can take it with you?
