Trade price hot tub

We are currently planning to replace a static caravan that was used throughout the 80's and 90's as a holiday lodge for a fresh one. Apparently it is highly desirable to have a hot tub outside these lodges, so where do I get one at trade price and get a vat invoice? Anyone here got them with farm cottages / other holiday diversification? What makes do I look out for and avoid? Are there energy rated ones? I'm in the dark as I've never bothered with the idea, or been in one. I would imagine they are more likely to be attractive with bling LED lights in them? Anyone know anything about them?

Not cheap to run, I hear and a faff to keep cleaning etc

Can't see why everybody wants to get in one

Me neither, sex in the bath is dangerous for women, so I was told. But the lodge park neighbour says his lodges that have them are always full, hence a premium can be charged. Personally I think they are a tasteless chav thing, but at the end of the day, it's not for me or my idea of a holiday, it's to cater for others.

Your local market will give you a good indication of desirability but we've only ever been asked for one twice here and both times the people concerned have decided to stay elsewhere. We've taken the view that the maintenance and install cost isn't worth it for us. There's some info here (where they are described as filthy sex ponds ) which may give you some more info; it seems changing the water in them on a very regular basis is a good idea....

Thanks, the idea is it should add another hundred odd quid a week to the tariff. As I said, not my cup of tea, but the market I'm targeting are working people of the north west of England who wish to stay in a static caravan near conwy for £5-600 a week, there will be council house DNA watered down in them, they drive new BMW's and audis, usually white, have terrible taste in music, wives and girlfriends dress like hookers, are as orange as oompaloomahs due to fake tan. I admit when they fall asleep in the hot tub after a debauched night of drunken home porno making l, it will be difficult for me not to gremlin the thing and boil them to death in their sleep. However, their money is as good as anyone else's, these things draw them like rats to the pied piper round here, so it's a must.

We've got one (personal use not at a rental property)

As with everything you get what you pay for. The more expensive ones will be better insulated with larger heating elements and easily replaceable parts, cheap ones will leak heat like a sieve and parts hard to find. When it was installed the guy came round and spent an hour or two going through the best way of managing the chemicals etc but essentially we put a bit of chlorine in after every use and test it once a week, no great hardship.

Every 6 months we have a guy come and drain, clean and refill the thing so it looks brand new.

This is ours:

Is it possible to get a hard top for them so little ones don't fall in and drown when not in use?

HSE's take on Spa's for rental properties............seems like you need to change the water regularly - like weekly:eek:

You can see the white underside of the lid at the back of the tub.

Its about 10inch thick vinyl covered high density polistiren, it clips down in each corner and these can be locked (we have two kids 3 years old and 20 months). The lid is more than strong enough to stand on (not that you should of course) and when you want to take it off it folds back on itself then up behind the tub.

I should point out that we haven't noticed any real change to our electricity bill since we had it installed and its on all year. In fact at around about the same time we found our immersion heater was faulty and staying on all the time so fitted a new one and despite the hot tub our bill came down.

That's also very tastefully done too, I like that idea.
