Done it for a couple years. It doesn’t seem to make any difference on cure rates. For cows at peak that are really producing milk I wouldn’t do it. Grass rats before or after peak is fine.

I milked OAD for the first six weeks. The cell count varied between 400 and 700.Within a week of going twice a day the cell count dropped to 120.Traditional method of curing mastitis pre common use of antibiotics was to keep cow in shed and milk out quarter every hour or so,or even better if you had a few calves that she would let suck her.Hence my view that OAD treatment is not the best way to go.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
