Hi there just about to buy one of these , just curious if anyone has used one?
They look good and the chap I spoke to was very honest about it .
Going on a 8.5 tonne machine with two piece boom for reach.

We are on a hunt for a digger too with a tree shear and look like we may go down the route of a tilt rotator due to the extra costs for a tilting attachments as we will be using a grab and grading bucket along with the tree shear mostly

I have been trying to figure this bit out too.
A 180 degree tilt rotator hitch ( a quick hitch with 90 degree swing either way) is about £5500, about £1000 more than a 360 one fitted permanently to the shear.
I don’t think you’ll quite get the movement and get every angle a 360 rotating hitch would but in its favour obviously have it to use on other attachments.
A full tilt rotator is probably the ultimate (engcon etc)but I was worried about the extra weight , they make it a bit bulky with rams that might be vulnerable in tight spaces and also blimmin expensive.
I think if I need a tilting grading bucket it may still be wiser to just have one separate ?
It’s a job to know which way to go?

Friend run a TMk 300 tree shear and a 180 tilt hitch but only they are very bulky so don’t run it all the all time but they are in forestry and doing a lot of Laurel clearance

having had a tilting grading bucket here before they are brilliant and I would not be without one on a digger
and as we be doing chipper work we were getting close to the cost of a tilty so now reviewing budgets and options 🤦‍♂️
Engcon have a couple second hand that would do an 8 tonne machine I think

digger shopping is dangerous 🤦‍♂️

Looking at a shear for my 8 tonner, I would definitely put a tilt hitch on the digger for the extra £1k than have the rotator on the shear only. Engcon look great but really need some justification, very expensive, spare parts will be very expensive. The tilt quick hitches are virtually maintenance free.

Difficult to explain but I don’t think a tilt hitch will give you all the movement ? If you are working as a grapple with the blade out ( which is possible , feeding chipper of something ) If the heap is in front of you and a bit on funny angles the tilt will only flick it up and down not swivel the grab iyswim this would be the same if working above on boughs?
Not sure just the way I visualise it.
I think the tilt hitch is good but the built in rotator slightly better, but limited to just being on the shear?
The other thing I’m not sure about is if ditching how much the extra length of the tilt hitch would add off the bottom of dipper arm and may it affect the angles to clean both faces of ditch ?
Not a one size fits all solution I don’t think ?
I’m conscious of the weight at distance as well as want to add a collector .
The jak chap talked me down to a 250 as the weight of their 300 is 800 kg !

I think you are right, the rotator will be slightly better, still only operating in the two vertical planes, rotate and crowd no horizontal left and right. Just be good to have the tilt function available for grading bucket (£1250 just for one of these), levelling beam, can make one easily without rams, and grapple as well as with regular buckets.
There must be a way of using the rotator on a grapple on a shear as that would be a good combination and big saving...
