Looking at 300mm tree shears for an 8t excavator. TMK seem popular, any comments on these or others?

OMEF is better than a TMK in my experience or if you want a grapple type JAK is the way to go don't buy a cheap 1 and expect it to do what an expensive shear will . We learnt that the hard way.

I would say it depends a bit on what you want to cut. If you want to cut lots of big stuff or do a neat job limbing big trees then spend some money on a rotator.
Coming in at an angle soon derates what you can cut.

That would be my other choice along with an OMEF u couldn't remember the name at the time

We have a 300mm shear with a rotator from RSL it’s a really good shear but I wouldn’t put it on anything less that a 13-14 ton machine. The shear weighs 680kg on its own add the weight of the wood and you could get in a muddle very quickly on a smaller machine.

Chap who does some for me uses a TMK on an 8t, does a great job, he's now got it on a tilt rotator, but even before it was brilliant.

This was some coppicing 5 years ago, out of interest will get a picture of the hedge today...

We have one of these if you want to come and have a look. Like everything you'll always want a bigger shear but its quite good for most hedges.

Have a tmk 300 on an 8 tonner, it's great...make sure you get the correct ram size for your excavator hydraulics
