i was just wondering what people thought a rough price was to pay per metre to dig out and back fill for a water pipe 600mm deep through a few fields and fence lines

If you are anywhere near moling land then go deeper than 750mm to be safe.

All depends on the type of ground, length of the job and location.

Goodness I hope when I put my pipe in that 2 and a half foot deep is enough to avoid any moling! Maybe they do it deeper in Suffolk!

We mole at 600mm or 24" but you ideally want 150mm clearance to allow for lows and humps.
Some places we mole down at 750mm where needed for intensive cropping.

I don't think a trencher would enjoy the big 3 foot stones much how does £2 per meter sound to dig out and back fill all tidy

How much would you expect to pay per meter with a trencher across 4 fields and through the hedge lines say 600 metres as that figure has been mentioned

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
