Tri axle silage trailer

If you want that volume and don’t care about tare weight why not get a HGV bulker and a dolly? Put some wide tyres on it. More manoeuvrable than any drawbar trailer and a lot cheaper.
These trailers are very manuverable with rear steer .in Southern Ireland we would have tight yards

Have a 24ft tri Smyth here silage and grain trailer here for a number of years. A horrible bitch on the road at 50k with a 22t load tends to sway from side to side.
Did have to weld and support the chassis where the trailer hinges at the back due to cracks.
Also had to replace the two front axils leaf springs as they don't seem up to the job.
If you are buying one try find the series which had the heavy tipping 32t Rams you will know by the half length first stage of the ram.
Based in cork too great trailer to move material but you can't put any old driver up on her can be a bit of a handful at times.
Glad you don't farm anywhere me

People suggest these Irish trailers and it them emerges they are unstable on the road or crack/fail or become fudged in places.

Im no engineer but I do know its no good taking an old school 12 tonne trailer and simply making its design all longer and adding an axle. The forces at these heavier and longer lengths must be enormous and there is clearly a reason the ball and spoon and linked steering is used on the continent where 3 and 4 axle trailed machines have been available for a long time.

And even the thing never sees the road you are on dodgy ground in my view.

Irish trailer are ultra strong.we have big heavy crops of grass and have to haul big distance on very rough roads.i have 2 axle 22 foot trailers regularly carry 24 ton of grain 30 miles no problem.so carrying 28 tonne on 3 axles is not a problem.to be efficient you have to be able to do more with less now.

Must be about 11ton overweight

Im sure they are, bit like those ultra strong Irish tankers whose wheels part company from their axles.

28 tonnes in motion calls for serious design, not just handy welding.
