UK Dairy Day

Yes, a good day out, seemed busy inside, much busier than the dairy event at NEC. Outside trade stands were quieter but were lucky with the weather as the forecast wasn't good. Parking and signage much better than last year, not an ideal venue for parking, a five minute walk away.
However this show can not grow, the venue is already full, if it is to move forward it needs a bigger venue.

To be honest, and I've said this before, I hate the dairy event at the NEC and I and many I speak to believe it's going down hill, stands were very spaced out there this year and trade stands questioning why they attend.
But Telford certainly isn't the right venue to stage an alternative, it's not big enough and did I mention the parking?

Where would suggest would make a better venue?

Someone suggested last year that Staffirdshire show ground would be a better venue. I have only been there once to a MF show so not too familiar with it, I'm sure there would be more room overall but I don't know if there would be as much indoor space. Not as handy to get to for me but parking would be less of an issue, someone must have picked up the bill for free parking in the public car parks at £3 a car.

On a separate note, a bit of a moan, is it just me that hates all this queing to get in where you have to fill out a form with all your details followed by wearing a wrist band all day? Plenty of shows don't do it but it does seem to be getting more common.

I was very disappointed compared to the NEC show. It seemed quite busy, but there was no organisation to the stands, and the stands were poked in anywhere they could find. At the Livestock Event, similar products were grouped together, which I found made a much easier day of it. As there was more space, more people could get around without crowding. I will not be back, NEC for me despite its drawbacks

The point of registration is that organisers are interested in "you" the visitor! It's also a way of getting an attendance figure although these are never accurate in reality. Exhibitors spend a great deal of money attending and need to see a return. That return is enquiries and meeting existing customers as feedback is also vitally important. Every show has its supporters and opposite. That's just the way it is. There is no such thing as the perfect show... Unless someone tells me otherwise!

I take it Stafford doesn't have a roof on though.
Quite like these shows with an indoor option. Not that I go to them mind:LOL:.
There is quite a big building at Stafford, Agco have held a show there on at least one occasion as have Burgess. I have only been in the one large building there but there may well be others I don't know, there would certainly be plenty of outdoor space which may be better for suppliers of Ag machinery who want a big plot to exhibit several items of large machinery. I would imagine Stafford would be a cheaper venue to hire, maybe some large marquees could be put up

Bingley Hall at Stafford showground would have been one of the biggest buildings on any showground in the country when it was built 35 years ago. It was big enough for ABBA to gig there at the height of their fame. Still a pretty big shed by anybody's standards.

Not just Bingley but also a large extension to it, and just next door Sandylands centre and Prestwood centre and another couple of smaller show halls plus catering and bars etc in Members pavilion, plenty of outside display space and car parking just 2 miles off the M6

Only problem is that because of all this it is very busy and heavily booked, probably be able to accommodate a mid week show though.

Parking and signage much better than last year.

However I prefer the NEC as layout is clearer and it is much easier to get to.

For anyone travelling from the North you either get snarled up on the M6 or A38, both of which are a ball ache when busy

Didn't even look at the cows, of no interest to my business.

i actually preferred uk dairy day to the livestock event. It was a lot easier to get to for me and once there even though it is a more compact venue i saw everything that i needed too so i dont really see the need to get any bigger and move to a new site.
