UK SHEEP FARMERS: SCOPS Principles and pre-tupping worming

Calling All UK Sheep Farmers...

I am a final year agricultural student at Harper Adams University and for my dissertation I am looking at worming practises and the uptake of SCOPS (Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep) Principles on UK farms. How on earth can you conduct such a survey without including aspects of clean grazing?

SCOPS was introduced in the late 70s/early 80s as deliberate attempt to usurp and discredit Clean Grazing. It was badly thought out, is badly presented, and isn't understood by normal sheep farmers. In fact, I can't think of a worse or more complicated advisory/development project.

I never knew people wormed pre tupping ?‍
Scops advice on quarantine isn’t as strict as a lot of farmers spec quarantine either.
Yes it’s a handy website for some knowledge but it is very broad, nematodirus forecast is usually 2-3 weeks late? Fly strike forecast is 2-6 weeks late? It’s a guide and that’s all it is.

Please can you either correct the spelling mistakes or make sure if you do another study that their are none - a huge bug bear of mine, good luck with the survey.
