Used Oil Filters

What do people do with their used oil filters?

If they have been drained and are empty can they go in the scrap metal bin, or are they classed as contaminated as they have been used. (I'm talking about ones that have been left to drain & empty for ages so are used but not fresh and oily and dirty)

Ive got a scrap run coming up, and would like to send about 20 that have accumulated over a couple of years in with everything else, but am unsure, sometimes the scrap people are a bit officious.

Thanks

Ive sent burnt ones in before and the scrap yard got a bit huffy about taking them, hence my question!

take them back to the dealer you bought them off and exchange for clean ones (y)

costs about £70 to get a 240litre wheelie bin emptied on its own.

i used https://www.oilsalvage.com/ not long ago, was about £130 to collect 1 x overflowing 240litre wheelie bin of filters and 3000litres of waste oil.

other companies wanted £180 just to collect the oil and then another £70 on top to collect the filters.

Do you crush the filters?
