Valtra v John Deere

A lot don't understand how to look after oil immersed brakes. You're better off braking harder on short bursts than dragging them for ages on a downhill. Dragging them for long periods boils the oil off between the plates and then they get v hot and wear like fu*k. Couple that with a badly braking trailer and thats where the 150hr brake wreckers come from.
Anyone else agree with this? I normally put the revs off a fair distance from a junction and light pressure on brakes, ur saying i should be pushing the brakes harder to save them?

I had a head gasket go on a JD 6630 and 2 pistons were replaced at the same time due to where the gasket was gone . JD and dealer both helped and my share was £600 which lost me no sleep. Tractor was over 4 years old so your figure isn’t right
How do you know you didn't pay the full amount?

I've had "help" from Case, Valtra and JD, manufacturers and dealers alike.

You don't have to pay a premium price to get help!

Could be worse our old case maxxums swing the hitch out so it's under the ring then pull it back in out of sight just as it gets high enough. Need Mystic Meg in with you
🤣

I just about lost my toes t one of them on a 5140, wouldn’t come down so I was in about with a bar and it dropped and swung out right onto my welly clad foot.
Aggressive little things!

What he means is if you are on a long down hill road with a heavy load, don’t leave your foot on the brake continually , every time you lift your foot the discs reoil themselves , by leaving your foot on continually the brake disc runs dry And wear very fast.

Depends on brand of tractor. NH I feel tractor brakes first.

This is wrong I know and I've asked them if it can be adjusted but told no.
Is that why the brakes in the 7200 don’t last very long , I know of them going on several of them at around the 1000 hr mark. Pulling new trailers with proper set up brakes. What is the hardest machine behind a tractor on brakes.

Oil immersed brakes rely on oil to cool them. Holding them on for ages without letting them off boils the oil off between the plates at which point no cooling is present and you either warp the discs or burn the braking surface off.

How old is the nh and is trailer on air brakes
