I meant that we never have a problem drying a high yielding cow off, and I can't say any neighbours comment that it's a problem either.Quickest way to stop a cow milking is kill her?
All have their place. Every sick cow or one that experiences pain should have painkiller. I do think the Velactis had a place if used correctly - some people really do struggle to dry off these cows. Kexxtone is great for cows carrying twins.Too many vets pushing these wonder drugs ketexonne, metacame and velactis all in the aid off extra profits for them.
I agree at times but things like giving pain relief (metacam) to animals the require it is or should be a must for people in charge of animals.Too many vets pushing these wonder drugs ketexonne, metacame and velactis all in the aid off extra profits for them.

*metacam
Some people claim all drugs are just for vet profits and the cow will be just fine sorting themselves out..... some people are sh!t talkers.
Haven't used ketexonne but metacam is a bloody great drug that has its place.

Rumensin[emoji768] is an ionophore, which can be classified as an antibiotic, that is produced naturally by the bacteria strain (Strep cinnamonensis) and is typically fed as the sodium salt. Rumensin[emoji768] functions by creating a shift in ion transfer across the cell’s membrane. In order to maintain cell ion equilibrium, the affected bacteria must use a considerable amount of energy to correct the ion imbalance thereby reducing bacteria growth. Gram negative bacteria (i.e. starch fermenting bacteria) are more resistant to the action of Rumensin[emoji768] than the gram positive bacteria (i.e. fiber fermenting bacteria).Kextone is just a rumensin bolus but they're £30+ each. There were plenty of guys feeding Rumensin out in nz when I was there a decade ago.

How long will this be available?
I thought you said there was no data to back up metacam for its 5 day pain killer affect?
But you need to repeat for 3 days? That's what I mean 1 jab of flunixon or croynixon would be about a third of the price of metacam
There is no way metacam lasts three days. It's a good sales pitch to justify how expensive it is.But you need to repeat for 3 days?
I found flunixon not as effective on mastitis as metacam
