Vicon rv2166 net problem

Been baling silage no problem then getting towards the end of the roll it started not wrapping the bale and I had to re insert the wrap into the chamber , did this 2 or 3 times , it would engage the wrap then rip it off .annoying .

Is the drive belt for the netting system tight or in good condition? That helps he net into the chamber to allow the bale to catch the net . It it's slipping it will slow the net down and will rip before it catches the bale

Raise the net brake up and check it’s nice and smooth where it sits on the net roll then if that’s ok get some talk and put a bit in the ends of the cardboard core of the net roll where it sits on the cones, they sometimes do this early on in silage later in the season theirs plenty of pollen and dust to stop the roll dragging if this doesn’t cure it let me know their is a few settings I can talk you through.

Mine does the same thing in silage early on then as it gets later in the season it works perfectly just put a bit of talk on and it’s ok usually sometimes have to adjust the net tale a bit longer.

Had the salesman out and it required a spring taking of the brake at either side , then it worked fine . The wrap had been taken in then the brake came down and the net snapped. Still think it might have been the individual roll of wrap causing the problem.

If it was working all right before it was nothing to do with the spring it hasn’t got stronger, I have baled thousands of bales with these balers and had it happen plenty of times in early silage and I have never once had to remove a spring just a bit of talk in the ends of the roll or even a bit of dust of the baler and it’s fine.

It took time to realise what you meant by ''talk''. I presume it is talcum powder.

Does it provide a bit of lubrication between the cardboard and the cones?

Yes when theirs no dust the cardboard can bind on the cones after a while a bit of talcum powder or even some dust stops it binding, taking springs of can effect how the net spreads.

This problem reared its head again yesterday. It kept taking ages to wrap then eventually refusing . Kept on re entering the wrap then same again .was about to pack in , then remembered this forum, so I put some talk on and it worked . Couldn't believe it . So frustrating.
