I reckon the biggest factor will be staff off sick and self isolation ..... companies in the supply chain will have a shortage of staff and won’t be able to process or deliver the product causing a bung up in the system

I reckon there will be food shortages and bare shelves because the lorries and warehouses and packing plants just don’t have the staff

Already seems to be a bit going on,availability of prime stock (sheep)has markedly increased due to worried sellers, rumour has it some prime markets are going to have sales but vendors will have to just drop stock and move on and heard this morning one large abattoir is talking about closing (chills must be very full) but I was also told that a local Lidl had no fresh meat left on the counters ?

just maybe if this gets bad a new appreciation of food security may emerge on the other side ?
Possibly although today's takes from the 10 minute 8am Radio 4 news headlines before the main political interview managed to get these salvos in despite Coronovirus , possible recession, Trump and other main ticket items

  • There is a shortage of skilled tree planters in the UK to meet Government climate change planting objectives
  • UK will find it impossible to meet climate change net zero objectives without tackling airflights and removing red meat from diets
I'm tired of shouting at the radio now and folks think you're mad driving about shouting inside your car

The word down here in the greater metropolitan area is that there is no demand from restaurants - therefore the price of pigs has to go down? Nothing to do with the record prices for hoggets of course, no off-setting of one sector against another, no, that never happens......
