Voting to select the winner of the 2024 National Pig Association (NPA) Allied Industry Member of the Year Award has opened.

Following consultation with members, the NPA has announced a shortlist of six companies deemed to have made a significant and positive contribution to the pig industry over the past year.

These companies are:

  • Bishopton Vets;
  • Con-Tented Products;
  • Phillips Animal Health;
  • PIC UK;
  • Quality Equipment;
  • Thames Valley Cambac.

The company with the most votes will be crowned the winner at the National Pig Awards 2024, taking place this November in London.

Ceva Animal Health won the award in 2023; HIPRA in 2022; Thompsons of York in 2021; and Yorkshire Farmers Livestock Marketing in 2020.

Nominations are also open for the David Black Award. The deadline for nominations is August 31.

The award has been honouring exceptional contributions to the pig industry for over 60 years.

It is inspired by the East Anglian pig farmer of the same name and is awarded to an individual or organisation that has made an outstanding impact on the British pig sector during the course of their work.

Hugh Crabtree won the 2023 David Black Award for his exceptional contribution to the British pig industry spanning over 40 years.

Hugh has dedicated his career to improving the welfare and economic production of the industry.

He co-founded Farmex Ltd. – a market leader in ventilation systems for pig production in the UK – in 1980.
