Are these permanent 4x4. Any ideas what the “off road” button does?
Ours is next to useless as soon as it comes off the road or got any weight on. It wouldn’t pull half a bale of straw up a grass hill earlier.
It’s only on road tyres currently. Will proper tyres make that much difference?

Do you mean you don’t actually know if it’s 4wd when you are driving it off road trying to pull a trailer....... I believe the off-road button adjusts the traction control. Tyres will make a huge difference . I have ordered our new ones with locking rear diff

Tyres are key to any pickup, the road tyres normally supplied are just that....road tyres. Put some BF Goodrich on and you wouldn’t believe the difference in the wet stuff.

well the way it behaved today was pathetic so that made me think it wasn’t in 4wheeldrive.

Auto are fulltime 4x4
The offroad button as said adjusts the gear changes and traction control and I think hill decent

Tyres you need all terrain tyres at least
Road tyres are useless off road, m+s tyres will give a bit of grip on a field against summer pattern

But aggresive tyres will knock about 5mpg off
A good all terrain like general grabber at 3 or bf Goodrich will do a noticeable difference
