Anybody running a 2015 vintage of the above engine in any of their vehicles... we hav one in a touran, took it into the town tonight to run few errands, 5miles each way and took about 20-25mins with stops.
Temp hand never made it to 90 degrees and only started to get a wimper of warm air around mile 8, the outside temps r around zero, even kept heater off for the run in as its been doing this for last few years and takes an absolute age to get to temp when its cold, has had both thermostats replaced and everything at the heater end checked.
Anybody experienced anything similar wit this engine?!, same journey this morn in similr temps my outlander had warm air by mile 3 or 4 and was at full temp shortly after

We had an Audi A3 of around the same age with similar problems of being cold. It was a blocked/ broken heater matrix in the bowels of the back of the dashboard.

Im not sure if yours is the same being a vwag group car.?
This is a common fault in this Audi model (and all vwag group? ) .
Traded the car in last year
Google your car problems, it could well come up, someone else will have had the problem.

Has it got a Webasto water heater like our 2009 1.9 has? Have you checked the fuse? I don’t think they run if it’s low on fuel.

I ran a 1.6 tdi for five years ‘till ULEZ dictated it should be sold on. 168.000 miles. I got the brown envelopes🤣when whichever child was doing wrong….
I would check heater matrix.

It will eventually chuck out toasty warm air... once the engine gets to temp, its getting the engine to temp in cold weather seems to be the issue, milder weather its not a problem, will hav engine warm and warm air in normal enough time frame so don't think the matrix is at fault.
No aux heaters on it, think there was also an option for 3 heater type plugs that heated water going to matrix but seems to be a cold weather counties option (this one came from uk)
Tempted to remove main stat and run it to see if there is noticeable difference, can't be much worse!!

Very Common for the desiccant bag to burst, but when it does leads to overheating as not only does it plug up the heater matrix, it plugs up the radiator too.

The Webasto (if fitted) will code itself out if it fails to start at 3 separate attempts. Would need someone with vagcom to sort the codes out. If it's working on start up the car would invariably vanish in a big cloud of smoke that was called 'cloud touran' on the VW web site.
My 2004 1.9pd takes ages to warm up and has done for years. I've never bothered to investigate!

But your 1.9 isn’t a 1.6 and they’re very different!

Think the water pump has an electric controlled valve/ flap on these that open or close, like an extra thermostat I guess, allows engine to warm up more quickly
