Want to charge

I have a neighbour friend who has 3 acres of grass he wants me to cut, ted, rake, bale, wrap and stack.....the field adjoins me so no travelling and it will be done at the same time as I do the particular field we have next door so I’m not putting gear on special.
I have no clue what contractor charges are as we’ve always done our own....what price per bale for the whole operation should it be please...ie £10/£15 per bale
Cheers

Depending how hungry for work you are !!! Tenner a bale is about the run of it. Another quid to stack maybe ??? But of course if you have a brand new fusion 3 with hefty reypayments and want and need everybodys work you might do the lot for a fiver a bale money " out the gate " .

I’m no hungry for work...have plenty of my own, he asked me and I said I would with it being next door...I have a new baler with repayments to fulfil but don’t do any contract work and have no desire to....but I definitely won’t be doing it for a fiver!

How heavy is the crop don’t get caught out at three bales to ac £12/ ac mowing £10 ted £10 row up £9.00 per bale wrap

Nah, get a stop watch and time yourself to get in the field and do each task.

If it is like some of the 3 acre paddocks around here there could be near 10 bales an acre or 3 bales an acre. Think what the end product could be worth.

Many will laugh at this, but if he is a good neighbour and creates no trouble, work out your cost and add £50? for wear and tear.

You will never get rich with whatever you charge for 3 acres, however good neighbour's are priceless, especially when it comes to farming.

We often tow cars for neighbours during winter snows, they in turn never complain when we have machinery running at 11pm during harvest due to impending rain. Swings and roundabouts.

Trouble is, this back and forth over 3 acres is going to take a lot of time out of a man's day and not just one day either as he isn't going to mow, ted, rake, bale and wrap and stack in one day is he?

I agree, hence the reason I left ? with the figure.

A farm in the neighbouring village has 25 nimbys complaining about a planning application for a straw shed, good neighbours are worth alot.
