Warranty on used machinery.

Would anyone expect a registered dealer to stand by a used machine if it had a fault which was picked up a couple of days after delivery? No where on the invoice does it say "sold as seen" but in very small writing in the bottom corner it says " the machine was inspected by the buyer". The fault could not have been picked on an inspection in the yard and does not stop it from working but needs constant readjustment when in use. Said machine is a 20k loadall so not a small purchase hence why I bought off a dealer not a cheaper private sale. Any comments welcome.

I would expect a reputable dealer to sort out the problem. But some dealers will not , once they have your money they don't want to know about any problems with the machine.

It is as on a previous thread, each time I send the boom out and back in again it is out of sync and the outer boom comes back 10mm less each time, so I have to bleed the system every couple of hours to avoid stretching the oil pipes. I have paid a JCB expert to have a look and in his opinion it is the makeup valve on the inner ram, it is a cheap part but long days work to do.

They should stand by it at that unless it was actually sold as seen... If anything they won’t want to get a bad reputation

Not farm machinery related but bought a used car last month from Harper’s Carlisle and on Sunday front right spring snapped... So Monday morning rang Harper’s at 9 abit unsure if a suspension component would be covered and at 10 o clock they picked the car up and left a curtesy car then at supper time they where back at the door to drop the car off :D now that’s how you look after customers

Before we all condemn the dealer we don’t know how much he was asking for it to start with, was he asking 23000 and the purchaser bartered him down to 20000 saying things like I will take it as it is to get the price down but then expecting warranty or did he give him what he was asking

Doesn't matter. If it was sold in good working order then that's that. Doesn't matter if £1 or £100000

My advice would be go to the dealership and speak to the Service Manager face to face and book a slot in the workshop schedule to suit both of you.
