I feel more you mate ,it's been horrendous here this year !!
Been called out 7 times in the last 8 days Tuesday we were called out twice some small fires that we got on top of quickly but a couple of real bastar#s .
90 hectares of barley was one of the worst that one had even me scared .
It seems that central Germany is one big bonfire that is waiting to go up in flames ,we are by no way the worst to the north of us and the south on the lighter soiles the brigades are on constant call out .
Sorry no pictures as I take no phone or camera with me plus it is forbiden here to publish personal photo's a point I have to remind my younger Kameradin of regularly
Make sure you all come home safe and in one piece to a cold beer ;)
Keep up the great work and of course greetings from Sachsen Anhalt (y)

We've got off lightly around here so far - little arable and our moorland is mostly remote from centres of population.

Had a hedge/grass fire over the weekend joining houses. Caused by the tenant in one house chucking fag ends in the hedge. Didn't need to give him many words of advice as his neighbours had done that for us...

Here is another 75 Ha going up yesterday evening !!!!!!!!!!

Just outside of our area thank god ,115 firemen and 21 appliances took a hour and a half to bring it under control
Only the quick thinking of the farmer/land owner averted a real disaster as he cut fire breaks with a cultivator and followed up with slurry to stop the fire getting into local woodland !
Hope this sh#t ends soon

Stay safe lads

Looks like you lads have it all under control (y)
Nice to see you working like proper firemen and not started using the new trend that some idiots over here have !!!! fighting field fires in full PA (SCBA) even though we are all trained and practice attacking the fire with the wind on your back .
They then wonder why they are half dead after 10 mins (it is well in the 30s) here just a useless waste of resorces and dam bloody dangerous if they misread the situation.
As for me been in Majorca for a couple of weeks and have missed most of the action "thank god"
Here are a few pictures from another 100 plus hectare fire in the next village !!!!
Not firebrige photo's but taken by my eldest sons work mates , The contractor who he works for puts a water tanker on the field with every combine !!!

Harvest is nearly over here or at least what bit they had to harvest so fingers crossed life will be a bit quieter ;)
Keep up the good work and come home safe

Max

PS I have a couple of video's of when the fire first broke out from the lads but havn't got a clue how to post them mp4 files :scratchhead:

I must have seen the remnants of 30 field crop fires within a 20 mile radius of here in the past few days. Some standing crop, some straw in the swath / stubble. Many have gone quick through hedges and trees and been quite extensive areas. Horrible to see and just adding to folks' stress

A first for me today. Alerted at 6am. Relief crew, major hotel fire. Aberystwyth. Hour and a quarter in the truck to get there and I have never seen the like. Appliances from all over the Service, as far apart as Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, Crickhowell in the very south of Powys, us the 2nd most Northerly station in Powys. Knighton right on the Shropshire border. And one of the 4 aerial appliances was from South Wales FRS Merthyr Tydfil!
