Waste Exemptions Renewals

Hello, all,

Wonder if anyone can advise, please. The Waste Exemptions Confirmation printout on the wall has caught my attention. It's dated 2017 in my handwriting. I've had no reminders by post or email. The EA system doesn't accept my attempts at finding out if it's current.

Does it cover until this year, or will there be notification to renew in 2020?

Thanks. I'll look in that register, and tick boxes if necessary - on the presumption that the cover can overlap.

My last paper reminder was 2016, then email in 2017, so maybe there's been some sort of overlapping in any case.

we rec a paper reminder to renew on 24th april 19 they were due to expire 27 may 19 and filled boxes in online on 26th april and downloaded registration complete form. The registration now expires a month earlier in 2022 on 25th april so would appear that by filling the form in early its lost a month though doubt that makes much difference,

Weird. I just looked in my email and found the original applications, but no reminders. Maybe I renewed before the reminder was sent...

Reassured now. Put the right code in the right form field in the right page (thanks again), clicked on it as highlighted on the next page, and see the renewal date for next year.
The Big Farm Calendar is duly written upon with reminders, and I'll look out for an email reminder, too.

I remember reading about a business being prosecuted because it hadn't checked that the farm it was delivering to was on the Exemptions Register. Iirc, it was a hefty fine.

Explains it then. Just checked and the dates on the current ones, against the originals, I renewed just over 3 weeks before the anniversary, so wouldn’t have got a reminder.

I had a email to remind me about renewal a couple of months back and details how to do it online or a number to ring ,I rung the number and explained that I was not sure how to do it online ,the lady said no problem give me your reference no and I will sort it she then said about 2 other exemptions that had come in did I want them I said yes ,cant remember what they was but she said all sorted done for next 3 years

What exemptions did you all got tick when renewing? Did a search and can't find our business on there so I guess ours must have run out! Was looking through them and wasn't sure which I would need for a mixed beef and arable farm.

It doesn't seem to matter what stock is farmed afaics, it's more the operations carried out that need exemption.
Things like receiving clean rubbles to maintain the lane; casting up the material from ditching onto the hedge; retaining used tyres to hold down silage sheeting or net (their are better ways, but ... ). I put in a tick for burning twigs and small waste wood from hedgerow maintenance, and for keeping an option open for a small woodburner using waste wood in the workshop.

I took the view that if a clipboard man comes around, I'd much rather have ticked every box and therefore have an exemption, than be collared for inadvertently doing something that I wasn't allowed to because I hadn't ticked a box.

It's an odd method of search, you're right. What I'd done was to put the wrong name in, initially, because it links to the individual who registered rather than the business. Once the reminder email arrived, the form was easy to fill in.

I got an email reminder a couple of months before they expired. Easy enough to renew online. I printed mine off and put them in my EA folder, and set a diary reminder in Outlook.
