Water Companies

Just wondering who everyone uses for their water? We have never considered switching before but after our bill went from around £700 to £1500 a quarter this year for the same usage, we are looking to see what else is available.

We recently switched to Everflow. Wouldn’t recommend them at the moment. Their predicted consumption was way off and first month direct debit was our usual 6 month level. Tried to cancel but went through. Now trying to get a refund.

I doubt that Everflow will be in business for very long.

There's a 24inch main down the road with an air valve on top that has been leaking like a sieve for weeks it's been reported but as it's such a large pipe they can't shut it off as it needs the right box to be ticked , in the meantime 1000s of litres are lost every day and the water company seem not to be bothered at all

I’ve been having on going arguments with wan ker plus for nearly two years, feels like I’m getting nowhere, how do you get pat the first two layers?
Official Complaint procedure. Then it's the CCW if still no satisfaction.

Follow up any phone conversations with an email and letter, as a contemperaneous record of the contents of the call for "your records", and ask that they do so also, which they hate doing.

Always ask for the individuals name at the start of the call.

They are very good at giving the run around and you need an individual to "own the problem", the official complaint will sometimes help get past the call handlers and their scripts and find that Manager. Again get his/her name and ask for a written response.

When I was dealing with our multiple problems, having a written response from WP staf was enormously helpful for me, when another individual in WaterPlus denied that WP had ever said or agreed an action, with regards to my complaint. It was rather enjoyable having the WP letter from several months earlier, stating exactly what the latest call handler said was not possible, had happened and had been recorded. They can be some lying sods!

Whenever I’ve asked to speak to someone superior I’m told that’s not possible.
They seem very well trained in giving the run around.
Half and thre quarter hour phone calls and I come out of the house with steam coming out of my ears, gelling like a complete waste of time.
I have an issue locating a water meter, been promised maps and someone to come and locate it.
One simply told me I should just go look for it.
I replied it would be rather difficult to locate something under ground.
They told me they didn’t think it would be underground
I was gobsmacked and asked them to repeat that….. which they did

I feel your pain. :( That is when an official complaint might assist in escalating the issue. Do not be fobbed off, there is a proper procedure they have to follow. Then follow up the call with that email...

WaterPlus will have no idea on the infrastructure, that is STW's department. Had an issue with billing for a foul outfall, and in the end a local STW bod came here, I chatted with him for a while and explained the problem... and that problem went away.

But therein lies one of the major problems, getting WP to communicate to STW that the information is required... STW might have the meter on their records, but based on my experiences over the past few years, don't bank on it...

Complaints need to be headed "Formal Complaint" and underlined.

Thank you all for your replies. Sounds like all the companies are as bad as each other 😕. Have thought about a borehole in the past but all our groundwater is ochre water from the mines so would need a good filter and the expense of that was more than the saving when we costed it out.

Billing seems a bit hefty. Why did you not complain?
