Water in an engine

What’s the procedure if you get water in a Diesel engine via air intake ? instant stop, no visible damage, no big bang or attempt to restart. What should you do before trying to turn the engine over ?

not me by the way ! But I might be involved in trying to help fix it

Injectors out

All air intake out as well a flow meter and turbo pipes

Wet and dry vac cylinders and pipe work

How do you know water got in?

If the engine stopped itself its probably to late.

it stoped in a flood so no doubt re the cause !

I suspect you are right and it’s too late but don’t want to do more damage trying to fix it

Injectors out remove all air intake side and turn it over. I had a guy went through a flood in a petrol car it stopped dead hed been trying to start it again even though i told him not to. When i got to it i was fairly convinced he’d probably f@@ked it so i just removed air intake took out spark plugs turned it over spat all the water out. Put it back together it started instantly and was running 100% i said he was the luckiest guy on the planet

Also If it’s a Turbo Diesel with an Intercooler also remove hoses off intercooler and make sure that is empty of water before cranking

I did this to a brand new hire BMW 3 series 2lt diesel a couple of years ago, we had the glow plugs out turned it over drained all the water from the intake and intercooler etc, put it all back together and it started right up.. drove through the same puddle an hour or two later just slightly slower...
