Got water in the bottom of a heating oil tank .
Any bright ideas how to remove it?
Thanks
As lincs lass above say. Pipe into bottom of tank. Pump out. We normally tape the pipe to a measuring stick to stop it bending. We also use water detection paste to see what level the water is to.
If there is water there will doubtless be junk/muck too. If the suction pipe has a strainer it'll probably need cleaning a couple of times.
Also if you have water in there, where has it come from? Split etc?

Washers normally perish around the fill connection threads! Had to have over 200 litres of water pumped out of our 3500 litre kero tank on my house recently, boiler goes a bit better now!

There should always be a drain-plug at the back of any fuel tank, which should always be at a lower point than the draw off point. This should be used to drain off the condensate on a regular basis.
It rarely is giving rise to multiple prolems from condensation

The small 12v submersible pumps off eBay/Amazon for about a tenner are ideal for pumping water from bottom of tanks.
I got 1 cable ties to a length of 8mm rod so I can put pump at right point to get most of water out..pump into clearish can and you can see when starts pumping kero.
If not just water at bottom take filter of pump and it seems to pump some sludge aswell
