Water treatment - Laying hens

Just curious to see what people are using to treat there water with throughout the flock

We currently use water acidifier to lower ph to 4.5, then we use chlorine tablets. And flush drinkers every 3 weeks using hydrogen peroxide at 3% while birds are asleep.

We only use back ground Aqua clean all the time now. 80ml per 1000 litres through dosatron. Was giving acid but think it was actually creating problems with line hygiene the further into the flock we went. Seen no negative effects of dropping acid as long as bird health is good.

Just chlorine tabs at 3.75% throughout, then when I am empty hppa think this next crop trying Bioclean from biolink (Broilers)

what do you mean by high?? I have hard water with high iron. Is the cost in replacing filter media?
I’m not an expert on them but as far as I’m aware there is 2 tanks which hold resin beads in which attract iron and manganese particles. When they hold all the can they get flushed out using salty water.
Our system recognises when it’s full and flushed automatically. But because our water is hard to begin with, it uses more salt. On our 32k laying unit we use around 7000l per day, and I would estimate our salt usage is at least £100 per month.
replacing the resin beads I’m told is only every 5/10 years or so.

Our water comes from the mains, if it's good enough for me to drink ,it's good enough for the hens to drink, Be careful of the vets , once you let them in they won't leave on til they sell some crap to you, vitamins, probiotics, water additives, some vet company's have to pay to get In to the large Egg processers, so they make there money by persuading you to buy crap

Do people who drop acid normally see the negative effects of it?

No idea really, it gets drummed into you that it is important for laying bird gut health etc, it is quite expensive and at egg prices where they are every little helps as long as it is not detrimental to flock health.
Our acid in 1000L which does a whole flock of 32k for a cycle is around £3000 mark, and the chlorine on top which would probably be another £500. I estimate bioclean Aqua would be around £800 for the flock. Definitely worth considering for a couple thousand pound ?

At 1:33000 its hard to get a huge bill, water teats show it works well even 100m diwn the drink line
Needs a doser from dosing solutions.
Used to use hydrogen dioxode but found it corrosive, eating the dose pump and pipework, i was spending more on repairs than on chem

I'd imagine some people who drop a tab see negative effects, amongst seeing other things. But for some I understand it's a wholly positive experience.

Personally, I've never trusted my general state of mind and mental well-being to give it a go.
