Yes I seen them, Pelton seems a lot better, but looks like you need a good head of water piped to get a useful pressure, and a water wheel less head, and just down a race, it will depend on the site available, also wheel will make less sound then a Pelton turbine
I agree the sound of a big water wheel is steady, soothing I have never heard a Pelton wheel going I presume it is a loud whine like a turbine.
But you would put it in a shed and insulate it, then that whine in the background would be the sound of your own electric.

The dumbass's at the EA charge for the licence. They need a severe boot up the you-know-where after they appear to have jacked charges sufficiently high that it has killed most projects stone dead.

Meanwhile, Windermere is turning into the UK's largest cesspit !!
