Reckon most of these departments have enough money just poor use of what they get.

Same as the council's but that's a whole new can of worms.

And the UK is short of thousands of doctors, nurses and the like as well as police but no one wants to pay more tax to fund them and that is the crux of the matter.

The tax take has nothing to do with the above. Nurses etc arent leaving because they are poorly paid per se. As I understand it they leave because they can be paid more money in the private sector for more sociable hours. It will also have intrinsically better morale.

The NHS and education systems should no longer be political footballs. They should be managed by cross party committees of MPs.
