Weather forcast apps are completely useless

The weather forecast apps have no logical consistency
Today for us bright sunshine for the daily forecast but in the detailed hourly forecast heavy rain first thing

For Sunday bright sunshine simble but 7 hourly slots one spot rain 3 hourly slot cloudy sunshine rest moon
Not one hourly slot sunshine
Monday has cloudy sunshine for the day but on the hour;y slots has 4 bright sunshine

It looks to me that the forecast hs no logic from the data

People who use the daily forecast to decide if they need a rain coat or an umbrella will get wet

From a farming point of view you want a rain free day for spraying the forecast is useless

Agreed. Quite often the symbols on the met office forecast don’t even align with the text forecast or the video broadcast never mind what’s actually going to happen.
The number of opportunities I’ve missed for spraying or gone only for it to be followed by unforecast heavy rain is very considerable and has a significant economic cost. The same goes for harvesting at less than optimism moisture incurring often unnecessary drying costs.
There really needs to be some kind of performance related pay in meteorology otherwise it will continue to be a money for old rope business with no incentive to get it right. It’s often noticeable that the forecast won’t change from Friday night to Monday morning as that’s what fits their working hours. It’s a poor service.

Fundamentally the location based Synoptics are a waste of time and misleading when it comes to forecasting rainfall.. The probability and likely amounts are more useful but over a wider area.
If the forecasting regions were divided up more sensibly so that for example “East Midlands” didn’t include the Derbyshire Peak District then the forecast could be a bit more precise without needing to to the impossibility of predicting postcode detail.
