Thinking of getting one through grant scheme, who's running what and what do people think of the main makes, must be 3 way draft and electronic. How do people get on with there weigh heads for ease of use. I've seen pharnweigh and liked it, but open to others.

Watching this as going to buy a crate after having a nightmare with the combi clamp recently.

At a show a few weeks back I compared them all for ease of use, ease of door opening etc and by far the best was the rappa raceweigh. I had my heart set on that but run multiple static setups aswell as the rappa so now I’m thinking a crate will have to do, unfortunately I didn’t pay to much attention to the crates once I saw how good the rappa raceweigh was.

Anyone got any ideas on price for pharmweigh, farmIT, Border, Ritchie draft pro, any others?

@Allied Weighing was on about making one themselves but I don’t know if it’s gone further?

We used to have a pharmweigh crate before we bought the squeezer, it was a very good and well built piece of kit but heavy if you have to move it about.

Which electric weigh crates are fairly easy for one man to move with a truck? This area is predominantly arable so I I have grazing all over the place and can’t bring lambs back to the yard for weighing.

I bought a Border crate last year through the scheme. Works pretty well.

I can get it up into the back of the pickup fairly easily on my own. It's actually easier to do that than use the supplied axle and wheels if you have to go any distance.

I think their price is on their website.

I also need it mobile plan is to make a space on the prattley for it. Shame with racdweigh that you need a rappa unit as it was a handy bit of kit, just thought there was a lot of metal high up though. Pharnweigh was a little stiff on draft doors, but looked worth every penny for its construction and liked the twin overhead s cells to keep the sh*t out. Want something that will last including the weigh parts and indicator.

How much does it weigh?
3 way drafting then?
Price seems ok at £1500 for straight through and £1400 for 3 way but they come with different EID equipment..

What weigh crate did Livestock Management Systems used to sell @neilo

Talk to Allied. They definitely have got one made up but don’t know if they are selling it yet.
I had a rancher gripper that became unreliable so I’ve just taken the platform off and made up brackets and put it in the Pratley. Big improvement. The race makes a good stable platform and makes it very quick to set up. Used weigh bar from Allied and easiweigh 7 indicator for Bluetooth because It would talk to Shearwell.
For anyone using a psion workabout I bought a wand antenna and loosely cable tied it to to the crate and it works pretty well for reading tags.

They used to sell the Border one, not sure if they still do, as a stand-alone crate?

I’m doing he same myself and I feel that the Ritchie pro draft is hard beaten. Seems to be well made and long lasting as well as a smooth bit of kit to use

It has to be less than 100kg. I tip it onto it's end, back the truck up to it, sit it over so its resting on the tailboard then push it up and in.

Yes, 3 way draft.

Did you get it with antenna and module? The way I read the current specs it just has to be eid compatible, i. e. indicator does receives eid not necessarily a fixed reader in it?

Yep I've found the same. Nice easy crate to use and light enough to load/unload on my own.

Staff at border software very helpful over the phone with weigh head issues as well (almost always operator error!).

If comparing with the prattley crate be aware of prattley shipping times!

Weigh scales will be anywhere from within 0.1 to 50 kg out and you don’t know when or how it’s going to happen, most annoying when it’s 3-4kg out but at the moment it’s weighing me at 55-60kg and I’m 81kg. 56lb weight is weighing at 12 kg at the moment too, never trusted it and tend to lift every lamb before tagging fat anyway. Annoying at the moment as wanted to wean into groups based on weight but can’t now...

A lot of people on here have the same problems with their combi clamp weighers and not just me with an older type weigh scale.

As much as the Ritchie draft pro has a lot of good reviews on here i’m just not sure on it..
