Weighbridge

Looking at weighbridges again, we used to have a single axle bridge from Griffiths but it was always trouble.
We’d go for an above ground platform weighbridge this time, 18m+.
Who are the best at the moment.

Ideally want a system that sends the weight and numberplate to the office too.

If its only for occasional use, I would recommend the Griffith Elder portable weigh beams. 4.4m length, can be moved anywhere and come with a very handy key fob system which allows us to log loads at silage time without the drivers leaving the vehicle and all weights are collected onto a USB stick so no need to bother printing tickets. Cost was around £8k. I have had a fully loaded artic over mine with no problems, 45 tons

You should be able to get a cost for any size of bridge on their website, they have all prices displayed

We have the chance to buy this for not a lot of money, but I’m thinking it’s worth very little!! Don’t know if it works, the wires have just been cut before the display box!
We didn’t realise it was a concrete one before we went to see it!
I’m guessing it’s not worth bothering with?

If the wires from the cells have been cut, it will likley need new cells, and they can be very expensive on older type bridges.

In this case id say not worth bothering with, even if it was free.

Hi, we're also looking for a weighbridge and were keen on single axle dynamic weighers such as the spaldings or Griffiths elder models. This is mainly due to limited space and cost. Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated

We had (have) a Griffiths single axle bridge. Absolute nightmare, forever going wrong. The above ground portable ones may be different.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
