Welger ap530 out of timing

I have gone through the needle timing on my AP530 and everything seems to be correct except measurement H (see below). In short, it won't knot and hasn't for several years. I get everything put into rounds so no panic but it's time to get sorted.

This is what the manual says:

I haven't replaced the guide plate but the measurements should check out anyway...and this is my baler (below):

The photo is taken from a bad angle but the distance between the nose 5 and the knotter 7 is approximately 27mm on my baler and not 1.5mm - 2.5mm as the book says it should be! Doesn't this point towards the machine being reassembled with a cog out of position (by a previous owner, let me hasten to add!)? I'll try to take some more photos today. I put this up on the Facebook small baler page but FB just seems to be getting worse and worse. Photos either missing from my posts or won't enlarge.

The baler seems to finally be working correctly. I know no one has replied to this thread but it has a parallel one on Facebook that won't accept my video, probably because it is too large.

I cleaned up the twine path with emery paper on the baler which has greatly reduced the twine tension caused by rust. This may have been why it would not tie. I had to use considerable force to get the twine to pull through at all. Thank you #Simon Chiles for your advice and help which saved me a lot of frustration and time!

Excellent news, glad you’ve got it sorted.
