Well said Andrew Ward!

The very fact it’s so difficult to explain or even find out who owns RT is reason enough to abandon it.
The reality is it doesn’t actually benefit the producer or the customer. It’s so full of holes that if any decent journalist did a proper investigation they’d be able to rip it to pieces and make us all look like fools.
We, the 78,000 farmer members, have the power to end it. It just needs an organised union of farmers to bring us together to speak with one voice.
There is power in a union said Billy Brag.

A trade union is a group of employees who join together to maintain and improve their conditions of employment.

So the NFU is supposed to improve your conditions of employment, at the very basics of it. Can you name 5 things the NFU have done for you to improve your life in the last say 5 years?
If everybody left the NFU they could not say they represent farmers. Would that mean the end of RT? Even if a significant number left, would they have the clout to take RT forward in any manner?

NFU is a “trade association”.

The word “Union” is misleading.

Thanks Andrew. I respect your honesty.
I’m sure a few at the top table of the NFU didn’t want you to say all that. It gives quite a different perspective on the meeting when compared with Minette Batters vlog.
Fact
We already had Farm assurance for several years before the 2000 BFS instigation there was no need for the nfu to meddle with it and over complicate things.
none of those things he mentions (including some he doesnt ie lead in Cattle cake ) were caused by farmers .that should've been /should be made loid and clear, not apologising for them

why does a large arable farmer have any relevance at all to our farming ? and yet these people are calling shots over all the industry as a whole ,or supposedly so..

There is no percentage rights, its one member one vote. Thats in the company Articles of Association. And AFAICS the members are the NFU, the BRC, the AHDB, Dairy UK, NFU Scotland and the Ulster Farmers Union. NFU Wales (or the other Welsh farming union) do not seem to be involved.
5 out of the 6 ought to be representing farmers interests, it’s the BRC that ought to be in a weak position

Will never happen
The mistake farmers made was joining a club that has standards that were far above what was needed ,you sunk your own boat
Exactly ! I remeber when assurance schemes started the clever fukers couldnt join up fast enough !! My father tore strips of a caravan load of them at a show one day and was laughed at ! Whos laughing now ..

Just watched Andrew's presentation . At last someone is standing up and saying publicly what a farce red tractor has become. It is now or never to vote with your chequebooks guys. If red tractor disappeared from the supermarket shelves by lunchtime I would not mind betting that shoppers would not notice or be put off buying food that they have to have. When I am in a supermarket I people watch and I have NEVER seen anyone look to see if the product they are putting in their basket has the red tractor logo on it. Would no red tractor mean people would starve their families?,I don't think so.

Erm:
Well said Andrew but why has it taken you so long?
You have been a loyal supporter and represented NFU Lincolnshire for many years. Your partner works for NFU and I know for a fact that she has had a lot of grief from fellow NFU members, many of whom are now Ex-NFU members, specifically because of NFU’s involvement within Red tractor!

Nonetheless, the points you raise are valid and yes, it does need a massive rethink.
I hope that you will have done some good in getting back to where it always should have been.

It is great that folks such as Andrew Ward, Harry Metcalfe and Olly do YouTube videos and highlight various farming political issues within them.
However, I am somewhat annoyed to see the Minette Batters bit slapped onto the end of Olly’s.
Does it take having to be tacked onto the end of Olly’s blog for her to get her piont over rather that have her own YouTube vlog?

And as regards this RT greening standard, WTF does she mean by some saying “Let’s get on with it”?
Who TF is saying this?
I bet it isn’t the farmers wishing RT!

Unfortunately for Andrew, Minnette’s comments of Olly’s vlog absolutely shows why and where NFU have gone wrong with RT, period!

Quite Simply Andrew, it has now become so bad that you should abandon NFU and join and represent the BFU, immediately!
