Welsh Sustainable Farming Scheme AND Protests

Having talked to a few local farmers, they say it is more like 25% of land out of production. 25% that is currently capturing carbon...

So I had an idea. Write to your MP, AS member and tell them in order to fulfil the climate goals, they need to not use 25% of their house. We could create a form with questions like their net income, their turnover, their carbon footprint, their use of the toilet, their inputs including the grocery bill, their electricity and fuel bill, how many miles they have travelled in their car, etc. Then which rooms they are going to not use, and insist there is a window box growing something in every other room. This will have a different section on the form to disclose their soil type, the feed used, the water used etc. Inspections will be done by at least two different agencies.

I dont claim anything so have not seen the paperwork, but it should not be too difficult to mirror to some extent. That form sitting next to his/her breakfast might make them think how absurd the whole thing is.

Or just fill 25% of the isles within a given supermarket with people just chatting so that 25% of the goods would not be available to shoppers. Farmers and partners and children with a few trollies with the odd bit in would mean you were a customer and would be difficult to remove. Make another form for shoppers to read as they leave without their goods to make a point and spread the word.
Passive aggressive, moi?

if we have unity how about a general strike? No one loads milk, beef, lamb, fruit, eggs, milling wheat for a week and see how it goes for the supermarkets?

I understand the sentiment, but how is anyone figuring out that 25% of their land would have to be out of production?

The current plan is for 10% of every farm having to be under tree cover (and existing trees count towards that). Another 10% has to managed as 'habitat', which can be existing low input grassland, existing hedges (counted at 18 sq m per linear m) or as ground put into (grant funded) options like herbal leys.
That's bad enough, but it adds up to a long way short of 25% on any farm.

And thats the problem the farmers of the united kingdom are anything but united
The contrast with the farmers on the continent couldnt be more stark .
The French would have minette burnt at the stake , and moseley would be in hiding in fear of his life ...
Wanted for treasom posters would be up putting a price on bradshaws head dead or alive ...
Its time to wake up boys and girls youre out of the EU now and have to do your own protesting .
The
days of living free of the French and other countries ag lobbys are over .
The alternative is of course to continue behaving like a castrated enuch like the NFU working behind the scenes ...
Full marks to the Welsh now step it up a gear !!

Having delt with the french farmers this is spot on , more like a uk trade union in the 70s , i was warned when i first went dont p anyone of them off in society i was dealing with , they will all stick together and you wont get anywhere , they make most events more like a family social than a business . an entirely different atmosphere than dealing here !

how about if you are intensive and your N input is above 170 kg/Ha, limiting to that level would reduce output would it not?

The disgusting hypocrisy if this is true! Heads should roll.

View attachment 1164885

I think this is true, he was due to visit the Firstmilk factory in Haverfordwest, the visit was cancelled due to concerns that the factory may have been blockaded by angry farmers and that the comrade chairmans personal safety couldn't be guaranteed.

Drakeford's security is obviously worried, let's hope he too is worried to the point that he will actually listen to Aled Rees and Gary Howells when they meet him.

Am I reading it wrong?

The conduct of just stop oil is far far worse, an absolute shambolic disgrace compared to this farmers protest. Just stop oil and others are brainwashed into the net zero lie or getting funded by the lying elites over net zero
