Certainly on most of our small arable area, no point planting spring crops to lose money, if I could find a bit of spring oat seed I would plant it to get the straw

It does. Looking at south devon. Jet stream on the move north, hopefully moves enough for the whole country to benefit but yes we generally get the positive effects first

I've decided not to put a tup with my yows this next year. If this wet weather is going to be 'the norm' then I am gonna put a male trout or salmon with them instead.

One thing we wont do is change it , the weather, so why waste any energy wishing it would, look at what to do to live with it or something else that interest you take your mind off it ... not making misery or angry, that wont make one bit of difference to it only bring your demeaner down...

Heard on the radio today that we have had 10 months in a row of above normal temperatures.
They should have pointed out that we have had 9 months in a row of very excessive rainfall.

The ten months of highs fetched the 9 months of rain, no proper cold winters to dry things up.
Just a cycle or here to stay? Those who monitor it seem to think it's only going to get warmer.

I am going on a ruby tour with my young son on friday and back on Sunday ,which will be a relief from watching the rain at home.On Wednesday i will be filling in the SFI for all my arable land and sod it.I have found a set of flotation wheels just so i can spread fert on the grass.There is no pleasure trying to drill crops into wet ground like this to get a ton to the acre.The only problem that it gives me is a lack of straw,which i was going to have anyway.This will be the first time in 35 years that i have had no harvest.I will just have to look at the combine and dream or even go on holiday.

As is often the case, there is usually a connection when 2 weather phenomenons happen at the same time.

The Climate change lobby will jump upon it all, but I’m thinking that El Niño is a major cause of it.
If my thinking is correct, this El Niño event is about to end and our weather will return to something more normal.
