My wife was the vet for some racing stables. When we first started going out we went to the races. One of her trainers gave her a good tip so against my better judgment and that of my dead nana who believed betting was the devil’s work I put the equivalent of £20 on a dead cert at 20 to 1 . Obviously it won so £ 400 to the good but ignoring Grandma turning in her grave we went for a slap up meal. On coming out of the restaurant I found someone had taken my spare wheel and jack from the Land Rover. God telling me never gamble again advice I have heeded from then on.

Won £50 on a guess the weight comp for some beltex sheep at a show, 0.5kgs out, only entered because the guy on the stand made some smart comment about how I should know as I had a Harper Adams jacket on.
£50 quid on a sweepstake for the champions league final a couple of years ago, had a couple of 200/300 pound wins at poker and in casinos but nothing major.
Paid off my student overdraft with matched betting too 👍

Funny how threads can jog your memory, I went to a United Breeders (AI firm) when working in Ontario.
All names were entered in draw, I won first prize of 20 straws of a bull who's name I can't remember.
Boss paid me for the straws and stuck them in his AI flask

Hahaha! You've jogged my memory, a couple years ago, we ran a event with Genus, a evening presentation on the advantages of Beef AI.
There was a draw too, Exmoor tom won something like 5 straws of a angus of his choice
I won procedures for 5 animals (I had to buy the straws)

Set of callaway irons and a putter in the only golf competition I have ever played in with a prize for a hole in one, and I got my first and only ever hole in one.

Had to agree to do a lie detector test to claim the prize and get witness statements, wasn’t worth the hassle to be honest.

I would have told them to eff off

Was runner up in a comp. a few years ago. Didn’t get the landrover, but OH had 1 tonne of sugar beet.
Next one was a trip to USA. Didn’t make that as ended up in intensive care after a drunken old bat hit the back of my (parked) car.
Don’t remember even entering No3 but we ended up with a double deck sheep trailer. (y)
Last year the big hamper at Christmas from our swimming pool raffle.
