When we used to plough and work soil conventionally we stumbled on the value of a heavy grassland flat roll to consolidate seedbed surfaces after sowing. We found that we reduce or even leave out slug bait applications. Another added benefit was improved grassweed control from autumn residuals. Cambridge rolls weren’t so effective by comparison.
