You would have to check with the auctioneers but i do not think that is the case!

One of the auction company's above that went bust held a dispersal sale about 3 days before they went bang and the vendor lost the lot!
I know a guy who was still owed just shy of 60k from his dispersal, held several months before one of the aforementioned companies went under. :(

198 older cows? If you got bid 1200 ex farm Id snap there hand off.
That's 1300 in a ring.
Most auctions would only take 160 of your 198 as the bottom 20% wreck the market average and makes for bad business
I would prefer to take my chances with a dispersal sale at that price, time will tell if you are right or not. They are only relatively old compared to many herds because they are bred to last and have proved they do last.

It allways amuses me reading sale catalogues when they brag the youth of the herd with the majority being under 3 lactations.

Most want a return on the investment next day, ie milk in the tank!
I don’t disagree, its the younger cows that generate the most interest/keenest bidding but there are buyers for all classes/ages of stock.
I’m certainly not convinced that what’s most keenly sought after is the best buy though, it’s certainly not where my bids are directed

It is to be hoped that Carmarthen Council have directed as part of their tenancy agreement with the new auctioneers for Carmarthen market the use of client secure accounts. The only way to instill a sense of security to farmers and reestablish this well positioned and equipped mart to a prominent status in the areas agricultural life. A confirmation by the auctioneers involved would be a welcomed and give their tenancy a kick start.

Has the mart started again, not that I've used it for a decade or more, or likely to due being TB shutdown.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
