Following on from the thread about the farmer who "moved" a car out of his drive with a telehandler just what can we do if blocked in or out of our land or on a road blocked by poor parking?
In an ideal world police would come out and sort the situation very quickly but in the real world they just havn't the manpower.
So what can we legally do?

Oh I watched a video on a similar incident.

In short, yes it could be entrapment because if you arrived by car then you probably need it to leave and you don't want to leave your car because potential for damage that might be done to it.

It's now no longer legal to impound vehicles without a licence.
really interesting, great to get a legal and proportionate view on trespass and the law

Something doesn't quite make sense about that story. Its always been my understanding that blocking access to a public highway is a criminal offence. So either Plod doesn't know the law, or for some reason the road in front of that house is an unadopted road, or there is no dropped kerb, so the vehicular access to the house is illegal anyway.

I wish it were the case that one could block in cars parked in farm gateways and demand a £100 release fee, it would be a nice little earner!
Are you allowed to block your own passage, as it were?

I've told this true story before. Came out of the pub to find my car blocked in. The blocker's car was not locked, so I slipped the hand brake and rolled it down the hill. It was a straight run to someone's drive, so I parked on their drive, put the hand brake on and left. I was about to leave in my own car when both the house owner and blocker met simultaneously. Why had blocker parked in a private drive? He hadn't and someone had obviously moved his car. Talk about petrol and bonfire!

A friend told me a similar story. But at the end of his hill there was a row of those garages sometimes built next to a housing estate for the residents. He ran the car into a vacant garage and shut the door. The car owners returned to find the car missing so they reported it stolen. It seems that garage wasn't used much and it remained closed for several weeks....
