surely that scoring around the hole is manmade ? it seems to be symmetrical to the hole rather than the centre of the branch ? but why would someone be playing about with a drill hole cutter ? wildlife enthusiast creating habitats ?

the branch was cut of with a bow saw , then this appeared , there is a green,yellow woodpecker about , but thought the hole was too neat and perfect , carpenter bee was one thought , or some other insect . don't know hence the question .
